Funding Boost Helps East Kent Students Follow Their Dreams

An award of more than £115,000 from The Careers and Enterprise Company, has helped fund an innovative careers education programme to provide specialist support for our students.

The pioneering project offers personalised support and information about progression pathways for students with Education, Health and Care Plans.

Since mid-2019, students studying at our Colleges in Broadstairs, Canterbury and Folkestone have benefitted from over 400 bespoke sessions designed to empower them to pursue their dreams and fulfil their progression goals.

As part of the project, more than 40 members of staff have been trained to deliver the ground-breaking specialist support.

“Couldn’t have wished for better,” noted one delighted parent whose child benefitted from the programme. Whilst another commented: “Thank you for sorting [my son] out. Really grateful for the time and effort in helping him move forward.”

Having initially focused on three of our six Colleges, programme leaders are using the findings and feedback from the flagship initiative to extend the programme across our Group.

Meanwhile, wider dissemination of the project will be undertaken through the Kent Further Education (KFE) Network and the Association of College’s National SEND Group.
