What is the Students' Union and how can I get involved?

A Student Union is a student-led organisation that exists to represent the students. Broadstairs College Students’ Union is run by a collection of students from different classes and departments who are elected by their classmates.

Being a student union representative gives you the opportunity to bring change on campus and throughout the college community and so, it will be the responsibility of the student reps to work with our student union president to suggest innovative ideas to the senior leadership team each term.

If you want to make a difference to your college and voice your opinions on issues that matter to you, then being a student rep will give you this opportunity.

Benefits to being a student representitive

Being a Students’ Union representitive or officer looks great on your CV and will help you gain a variety of skills that you will be able to use in your future endeavours, as well as giving you a chance to meet new people and share your opinions and views with others.

Student discounts with the TOTUM card

Discounts galore with The TOTUM card, usually £14, but FREE to our student reps, this card gives you access to lots of student discounts and deals on eating out and fashion, tech and travel, and everything in between. Our Student Centre

Our Student Centre is solely dedicated to our students and your recreational time. The centre is open from 10am - 3:45pm and is located on the ground floor of our Enterprise building, so feel free to come down during your breaks or free periods. Below are just some of the facilities we have:

· Table football

· Table tennis

· Xbox and PlayStation with a variety of games

What clubs take place at the Student Centre?

We try and cater to all, and our clubs are no different. We offer movie nights once a month where students can vote on films to watch, a LGBTQ club and a gaming club.

What events and campaigns take place around Broadstairs College?

At Broadstairs College we host a range of college-wide campaigns throughout the year on issues that effect and matter to you, from sexual health to mental wellbeing. We also host a range of fundraising activities with all proceeds raised going towards our chosen charities.

What kind of trips can you expect?

There are many opportunities to attend trips during your time at Broadstairs College and you can even suggest future trips to both our Student Experience Officer and our Sport and Enrichment Coach. Below is a list of just some of the trips that have gone ahead previously.

What sport enrichment activities do we offer?

We offer a variety of sporting activities for all, from team-building games to fun, inclusive sessions, and tournaments. Having the sports hall and outside space on campus enables us to broaden our students’ range of activities.
