Develop skills in shampoo/conditioning, cutting, colour and dressing women’s hair, including the plaiting and twisting of hair.
This Programme has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting or dressing women’s hair, how to effectively shampoo and condition hair and how to provide a good consultation service for your clients.
The Diploma consists of 7 units, with a credit value of 36.
To further enhance your practical skills, you will have the opportunity to complete the optional unit, developing your artistic skills with colouring and lightening hair techniques.
Underpinning this qualification, students will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the hair industry and gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of each unit.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable students to perform their own salon services.
4 Ds or 3s including English and maths or a relevant Full Level 1.
You will be required to sit six external online exams and complete seven assignments, one for each unit, to cover the knowledge and understanding for each unit.
You will also be required to complete practical observations for each unit, carried out throughout the academic year in the realistic working environment sessions on paying clients.
On successful completion, you could progress onto one of our full-time programmes such as Barbering Level 2 or Hairdressing Level 3.
Alternatively, you could seek employment as a junior hairdresser in a salon or become self-employed as a mobile hairdresser.
This course may be free to those who are 19+ and are unemployed or on a low income. If you qualify for co-funding you will be charged £822. The full cost of this course is £1645.
