I have nearly reached 40 years in education, teaching and leading in some of the most challenging schools in Thanet, including both mainstream and special educational settings. I am a retired Executive Headteacher of St George’s C of E Foundation School; who led the school through a “challenging period” and on leaving the school was the most oversubscribed school in Kent which OFSTED recognised as Good with Outstanding features. One of the most rewarding experiences of my educational career was leading St George’s to become an “all through” school, with primary provision opening in September 2016. I was a KLE (Kent Leader of Education) and became Interim Executive Headteacher of a further two secondary schools that were facing significant challenges. In my role as Executive Headteacher I worked collaboratively with many stakeholders; the Diocese, the LA, PixL, the Regional Schools Commissioner, politicians, local councillors, police and Social Services. I have presented at numerous National Conferences for CAPITA and Canterbury Diocese on Leadership. I am also a Chair of Governors of a secondary school in Canterbury, a Member of a local junior school and an IEB member for a school in Snodland. I am ambitious for all students in our care and passionate that every student and every member of staff is able to succeed.
