Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Certificate an REBT Perspective NCFE Level 2

Why should you study this course?

  • To increase a range of cognitive skills as a way of increasing the quality of life experience;
  • To consolidate life skills and knowledge generally;
  • For professionals and counsellor trainees who are seeking to enrich their knowledge base. 
  • Candidates may also use this course as evidence of ongoing personal development in the acquisition of professional accreditation or the renewal of it, and/or as a stepping stone from any of the NCFE Counselling Certificates toward embedding  greater integration of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in practice.


What will you be studying?

The NCFE L.2 CBT Certificate: An REBT Perspective (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy). You will participate in group work and experiential learning to provide candidates with knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of REBT and some key concepts.


What will you do next?

This Certificate is designed primarily for candidates who are seeking personal development.  Learners who wish to study this programme may choose to progress towards further qualifications or study in order to complement other health/social care programmes, and/or voluntary and community work.  Also for the purpose of continued professional development to meet or contribute toward professional requirements.


Things you need to know

  • Start date – Tues 17 April
  • 3 hour weekly evening class on a Wednesday from 6.30pm–9.30pm
  • Tutorials are provided prior to course start
  • Qualification Costs - £370.00.

Entry Requirements:  

  • No age restrictions
  • L2 literacy skills
  • Be open to participate fully in experiential learning process
  • By interview process.


Diploma in Counselling ABC Level 4

Why should you study this course?

Are you required to provide professional training to practitioner level of qualification?
The diploma provides both a sound theoretical framework and the practitioner skills to work safely as a counsellor.  Successful candidates, who have completed the additional supervised counselling hours stipulated by the BACP, will be in a position to apply for BACP accreditation.


What will you be studying?

The course is structured to provide Theory, Counselling Practice, Professional Issues and Personal Development.  The programme covers a person centred perspective, focusing on empathic relationship with clients within the ethical boundaries of a professional relationship.

Learning will include group work & experiential learning, group seminars, role play, individual case presentations, and role play.


What will you do next?

As the qualification provides licence to practise, successful candidates may apply for practitioner vacancies or set up in private practice. The qualification also prepares individuals for higher education studies to under or post graduate levels (depending on individual aptitude).


Things you need to know

  • Start date – Weds 18 April
  • This is a 200 hours per year over 2 years 
  • Wednesday evening, 5.30pm – 9.30pm
  • Tutorials are provided each evening prior to course start
  • Cost - £2,200 (Students are also responsible for additional diploma study costs, which may include up to 40 hours minimum personal therapy, ranging between £25-£40 a session)
  • Supervision when in placement (ranging from £25-£40 per hour) x 2 hourly sessions per month approximately (depending on placement caseload)
  • Travel expenses and books (estimated conservatively at £252 for core reading with additional optional reading).

Entry Requirements:   

  • Certificate in counselling Level 3 or minimum of 50 hours formal counsellor
  • Training with working experience
  • Two references
  • Submission of 2,000 word access essay (title available at interview). Candidates must be over 24 years of age and will be asked to attend an interview prior to the course commencing.
  • CRB Disclosure (at a cost of £42.00 to the candidate) - application will be made through the college as part of the registration process.
