Work Experience at Pilgrims Hospice

While studying for her level 2 secretarial diploma, Victoria Ayers (31) was lucky enough to undertake a work placement with the Pilgrims Hospice in Margate where she completed tasks including the setting up of a database for all of their collection tins.
Deborah Kellond, the fund-raising manager, has a regular monthly slot on the Johnny Lewis KMFM (105.5fm) breakfast show. She took Vicky along last Friday to say a few words during the show.
Catherine Cramer, Vicky’s assessor from Thanet College, is quoted as saying:
‘I’m aware Vicky was very nervous when on the radio but she gave her name, the fact she was on a placement with the hospice and ended the slot by introducing the next item on Johnny’s show – it sounded pretty good to me!’
Following on from the work placement experience, Vicky feels that she will certainly look at working in a charity environment once she finishes her course and fitted in really well with the team at the Pilgrims Hospice. This has been a successful and beneficial placement for Vicky and will help with her continued studies at Thanet College.
