Thanet College Cruise in and Rock Out!
Thanks to support from Thanet College tutors and students we managed to ‘take over’ this years Kent Marine Festival and were bombarded with positive comments all day praising our lively exhibitions.
We could be spotted almost everywhere amongst the two floors of exhibitors; interactive stands showcased Engineering, Science and the Creative Arts, careers advisor John Handley provided practical advice and our Catering students produced and served canapés for the evening reception under the watchful eye of Alun John.
The College band attracted hoards of screaming fans, some of whom stayed to watch them perform for most of the day. The lead vocalist had lost his voice by the end of the day but said he’d really enjoyed the experience, especially when their audience started singing along to the songs.
Performing Arts students entertained visitors with their mix of singing, dance and drama and, in keeping with the maritime theme, moved quickly through the crowds like a shoal of fish. Course leader, Ruth Hart told me that they were approached and offered paid work over the Christmas period.
John Tranter from the event organisers EBP said “I can’t thank you enough; the event just wouldn’t have been the same without you”.
