Taste of College is a Summer Success

More than 100
people took part in Thanet College’s summer school courses.
Students from
around Kent had the chance to try their hand at courses ranging from building
their very own barbecue to learning how to make their digital photographs look
like they’d been taken by a professional.
The students
arrived at the college bright and early and after collecting their goodie bags
and student ID cards were taken to their lessons around the College. Some
hopped into a minibus to be taken to the College’s Construction Trades School
on the Pyson’s Road Industrial Estate where Jean Hazell and others were doing
the Building Maintenance course. Jean was happy that she can now do some things
around the house without having to pay professionals.
Many of the
students are now considering taking up places in courses starting in September.
Thanet
College’s Deputy Principal Anne Leese said: “We run the Summer School every
year to give people the opportunity to see what it’s really like being a
student at Thanet College.
“Many people
may be daunted by the thought of coming to College and we hope that those who
attended the courses have learnt that the College is a friendly place and
studying here can be a lot of fun.”
There are
still places available for many of the courses starting in September. Call
