Budding barber proves a cut above at Kent-wide awards
An exceptionally talented barber studying on the College’s evening barbering course has won first place in an inter-college competition.
Jahanzab Rahman beat eight contestants from six other colleges in the KFE Barbering Competition impressing judges with his natural ability and flair.
The level 2 evening student has excelled at his craft and his dedication has not gone unnoticed by proud tutor, Jo-Anne Nolan. She said: “He is a natural and works so hard. He is also brilliant with his peers – they are all very inspired by him and he always likes to help where he can. We are so pleased for him.”
The 21-year-old moved to Margate from London two years ago after leaving Afghanistan and he proud to be fulfilling all of his ambitions at College by taking on all the opportunities shown his way.
Jahanzab said: “I always thought barbering was a good career and I would like to open my own business one day. I like helping people in class and I really enjoy competitions. I don’t get nervous because I enjoy the challenge. I really want to do my Level 3 now which I hope to do next year.”
Until then he will be busy preparing for a national barbering competition which takes place next week.
