Returning Student Talks on Catering Successes
Fernando Leon recently visited Thanet College to talk to a group of Foundation Catering and AVS students about travel and career choices based on his own experiences since finishing his Hotel & Catering OND qualification back in 1979.
The advice given was well received by the students and very motivational, including that learning a foreign language like French always helped if going to work in a top class restaurant and also working the cruise ships was an excellent way of getting all round experience whilst also being able to see the world.
After the talk, Fernando entered into a question and answer session where students asked for advice on what they should study, where to go next and also about his own career.
Fernando has always been in the hotel and hospitality industry and is currently Food & Beverage Director at the brand new ‘Radisson Summit Hotel and Golf” in Panama which is due to open at the end of this year.
