National Junior Chef 2010

Celebrity Chef Gary Rhodes will return to judge the National Junior Chef competition 2010 on Friday 21st May at Thanet College.

Gary has stated that he sees this competition as ‘a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to get involved and develop their skills within the catering industry and sees Thanet College as the perfect place for this to take place’.

Six participants will battle it out for the coveted first place trophy. The finalists will be of secondary school age, in years 7 to 11 and for some, this will be their first time in taking part in a national event.

The first prize is £300 for the winner and £250 for their school or college. All of the finalists will receive cash prizes as well as the uniforms and accommodation.

This years Junior Chef will build on the great success of last years competition and finals will once again take place in the Catering department’ first class kitchens and College Restaurant.

Accompanying Gary is Neil Wiggins, the Executive chef from the prestigious Eastwell Manor Hotel, who will aid with the judging process on the big day.

The college would not be able to hold this event without the support of P&O Ferries and many other local businesses such as Russums and Thorley Taverns.
