Lark in the Park - Jess Soames

Jessica Soames, who works in student services, went the extra yard for the college by taking part in the Lark in the Park summer event that had taken place through the middle of August. Jess has been attending for the last seven consecutive years as she feels it is good fun and rewarding to interact with the public in this way.
What makes this even more noteworthy is that Jess looked after a Thanet College information stand for the whole two weeks while she was on her annual leave! She has brushed this aside as she enjoys taking part so much, that she would have been there either way.
“I love being involved in Lark in the Park, it’s a place that brings families together and there is a real sense of community spirit which often is lost in this day and age. Being a volunteer is a real privilege and I look forward to bigger and better things next year”
Lark in the Park is a large event for Thanet with over 1000 visitors per day and far more in attendance for the weekend fun-days. It’s a summer community event that took place between 12th and 23rd of August, where families were able to visit and enjoy themselves by taking part in a variety of activities. Some of the things that went on include ‘Fun Factory’, ‘Boot Camp’, ‘The Vibe’, and other interestingly named sessions to cater for adults and children of all ages.
