Digital Photography
A creative mix of practice, learning and reflection. Each week you are involved in a photographic activity; learn about different aspects of Photoshop techniques and the technology behind digital photography, and reflect upon your work. The course will mainly involve digital enhancement of your photographs. At the end of the course you will be awarded a College Certificate.

Studio and Landscape Photography
This course is a follow-on course to the Digital Photography course. You will make use of the skills you gain on the previous course and may apply them to photography of the landscape and in the studio, also learning about different types of lighting and composition.

Indian Head Massage

Head Massage
VTCT Diploma in Health, Safety, Security and Employment Standards
This course is suitable for those wishing to learn the skill of Indian Head Massage either as a stand alone skill or for those wishing to expand their knowledge and skills in either beauty therapy or hairdressing. The course covers: Health & Safety, legislation, hygiene and consultation, as well as Indian Head Massage techniques.

Thermal Auricular Therapy

This introductory workshop is suitable for anyone interested in alternative therapies and who wishes to learn the technique of ear candles to improve health and well-being. It is ideal for students on current beauty/holistic/ hairdressing courses or qualified therapists in the industry for continued professional development. The course will cover: Health & Safety, hygiene, legislation and consultation, pre/after care, application techniques, anatomy, and the history and action of the treatment.

Nail Art
College Certificate
This introductory workshop is suitable for anyone interested in learning the application of nail art techniques. It is ideal for students on current nail or beauty therapy courses, or qualified therapists in the industry, for continued professional development. The course will cover a basic knowledge of: Health & Safety, hygiene and consultation, as well as various techniques in nail art to include: nail gems, hand painting, foil, striping tape etc.

Wines & Spirits
Foundation Level 1
This qualification provides a basic introduction to the main styles of wines available to front-line staff involved in the service or sale of wine and prepares students for their first job in hospitality and/or retail by providing basic product knowledge, along with skills in the service of wines and/or customer service.

Advanced Level 3
The Level 3 Advanced Certificate gives more comprehensive coverage of the wines and spirits of the world, with an increased focus on tasting technique. This course is ideal for those planning to work as a sommelier or a wine buyer for a restaurant or hotel. For those wishing to move on to the Diploma this course is essential.

If you are a caterer working in the hotel and catering industry this course leads to a recognised qualification in customer service and includes units on handling customer complaints and how to present a positive and professional image.

OCR Level 1 Book-keeping
This course covers the main book-keeping principles such as posting to accounts, ledger transactions, journal entries and trial balance. It provides an excellent foundation to progress on to the AAT course framework.

IT Skills for the Office - OCR Award in Text Processing, Level 1 or 2
A part-time, workshop-style course for those wanting to gain or improve their IT skills for use in an office environment. A range of units will be offered to include Text Production, Word Processing, and Audio transcription. The units can be taken at basic, intermediate or advanced level.

Entry Requirements: Basic IT skills.

Certificate in Instructing Exercise for Children
This course is suitable for those interested in teaching health related exercise for children
or for people currently teaching children exercise, but with no qualifications.  Ideally, you will have a gym / studio qualification, currently working with children or, have had previous experience of working with children.
Starts: 10 Feb 2010
Entry Requirements: No formal qualifications but all applicants must be over 18yrs or over on completion of the course. A Gym instruction qualification will be advantageous.
