Access and Teaching Courses

Alongside our HNCs, we also offer Access courses and Teacher Training qualifications in association with Canterbury Christ Church University.

Access Courses

Access courses are designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge they will need to progress into Higher Education. They are an ideal first step towards a successful career in many areas.

Our courses concentrate on providing the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare you for university. Successful completion of an Access course will offer you and officially recognised pathway to degrees at university and, in some cases, can guarantee an interview for (or even acceptance onto) relevant degrees.

Teacher Training

All new teachers in post-16 education in England, including FE Colleges, Adult and Community Learning, Work-based Learning and Offender Education, are required to work towards Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS). Teachers have five years in which to meet these requirements.

All qualifications in the QTLS framework consist of units with credit values. Teachers with current teaching qualifications are also required to work towards the QTLS status on the understanding that their existing qualifications will be recognised. Additionally, they will have to show evidence of thirty hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) per year. We offer a full suite of awards to new teachers and a variety of short courses that can be used as CPD for experienced teachers.

If you are interested in applying to study with us to work towards QTLS you can find more information from the Course Guide area of this website.
