Course Overview
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to Business, Retail and Administration. It is intended to be a practical ‘hands-on’ programme with it being taught in the context of real jobs and careers in these sectors. This course is also designed to encourage students to develop personal skills and qualities needed for work, learning and to help achieve full potential.
Course Structure
This course has 4 units in total.
Two Core Units:
- Starting Work in Business, Retail and Administration
- Introducing Customer Service
- Personal Effectiveness
- Social Responsibility at Work
- Financial Management
One of the following optional units:
- Ensuring Personal Health and Safety at Work
- Communicating Effectively at Work
- Introduction to Retail
- Introduction to Administration
Essential skills are also undertaken.
Qualification Aims
BTEC Introductory Certificate in Business, Retail and Administration
Assessments/Examinations
This unit is assessed via an introductory project.
Continuous assessment graded at P (pass), M (merit), D (distinction) for Core and optional units. The Personal Skills units are designated pass or fail.
Cost / Equipment
Students over 19 at the start of the course will have to pay registration and tuition fees of £495 per year.
Help with essential equipment costs may be available to students who experience financial difficulties. An appointment can be made to visit a welfare advisor through the Student Services Administrator. Call 01843 605043.
