Course Overview
This course is aimed at those employed in the bricklaying industry wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Course Structure
The course is delivered at our site at Hornet Close, Pysons Road Industrial Estate, over 2 years.
Apprentices will attend college for 2 days per week in the 1st year, & 1 day per week in the 2nd year.

As a Construction Skills Apprentice, you will also be required to complete:

- Store resources ready for use
- Basic working platforms
- Efficient working practices
- Erect masonry structures
- Setting out for masonry structures
- Details to masonry structures
- Slinging & signalling
As a Construction Skills Apprentice, you will also be required to complete:
- Key Skills to Level 1
- Abrasive wheel course
- Employers rights & responsibilities
- External CSCS Health & Safety Test
Qualification Aims
On completion of the course, successful candidates will achieve the Construction Skills Apprenticeship in Bricklaying Level 2, consisting of:
Progression routes:
- NVQ L2 in Trowel Occupations (Bricklaying)
- Diploma Level 2 in Bricklaying
Progression routes:
- Candidates may then progress onto the NVQ Level 3 or Diploma Level 3 course (depending upon ability & experience)
- Candidates may progress into Full Time Employment within their trade
Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessment throughout the course (including practical assessments & job knowledge questions)
Approximately 60% of course assessments must be work based (with evidence provided by the candidate & the employer)
External Health & Safety Test Pass is required for the full framework

Cost / Equipment
Tuition fees not applicable to candidates
Students will need to provide their own steel toecap boots.
