Course Overview

Construction Diplomas are nationally recognised craft qualifications and are accepted in industry.

Craft qualifications are in units, which can be studied in any sequence. The construction Diploma is college based,and an NVQ is work based. These qualifications are required for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).

Course Structure

The course is delivered at Hornet Close Brickwork Department over 2 years, with attendance for 2 days a week Topics covered include:
  • Store resources ready for use
  • Efficient working practices
  • Erect masonry structures
  • Setting out for masonry structures
  • Details to masonry structures
  • Health & Safety
  • The Built Environment

Qualification Aims

Successful students will achieve the Diploma Level 2. Those finding employment or an apprenticeship in the trade can also gain the NVQ Level 2 by gathering appropriate Work Based Evidence.

 

Candidates may thenprogress onto the Diploma level 3 (or NVQ Level 3 if employed in the trade)

Assessments/Examinations

Assessment is continuous throughout course (this includes self-assessment with practical tasks & job knowledge questions)

Cost / Equipment

Tuition fees £495 per year

Tuition is free to students aged 16-18 years.
Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain benefits & to their unwaged dependants.

Equipment costs include a Text book & Course Materials £35
Students will also need to provide Steel toecap boots.
