Course Overview
This course is suitable for students either progressing from Hairdressing Level 1 ,2 and/or anyone with an interest in barbering as a career. It is aimed at people intending to work, or already working, in barbers shops or men’s hairdressing salons. It emphasises the underlying principles and the practical skills required of barbers or men’s hairdressers, as well as the under pinning knowledge and understanding required. Level 2 is the accepted minimum for a junior barber in the industry.

Assessments/Examinations
Unit written and practical assessments/assignments in both theory and practical aspects of the course. Practical assessments are carried out in a realistic work environment (RWE) on fee paying clients. A portfolio of evidence is compiled throughout the course and submitted for final verification.

Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or to their un-waged dependants. Entry Requirements
4GCSE’s at grade D-G OR equivalent. Successful College interview. Target testing (attainment relating to level). Satisfactory school/college report or references. A knowledge of and interest in hairdressing is desirable and will be assessed at interview.
As part of the Entry Requirements it is important to note that, as this is aservice industry, students must meet the demands of the course which include: good interpersonal and communication skills, personal hygiene, health requirements and positive personal attributes.
