Course Overview
This course allows you to acquire advanced motor vehicle competencies in a college-based environment, which simulates working practice.
Course Structure
The units are:
- Housekeeping
- Health and Safety
- Working with Others
- Inspect Vehicles
- Diagnose and Rectify Vehicle Engine System and Component Faults
- Diagnose and Rectify Auxiliary Equipment Electrical Faults
- Diagnose and Rectify Vehicle Chassis Systems and Component Faults.
Qualification Aims
- City & Guilds VRQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance
- Functional Skills in Maths and English
This course can lead to work in the local motor vehicle repair industry especially if used to progress to the MV repair & Maintenance NVQ Programme.
Assessments/Examinations
Continual assessments are carried out in both the theory and practical aspects of thecourse. Examinations are on-line with City & Guilds
Cost / Equipment
Tuition Fees - £581 (including registration & certification)
Tuition is FREE for those aged 16-18yrs
Free tuition is available to those over 19 in receipt of means tested benefits or to their unwaged dependants
Equipment costs:
Training Programme on-line access fee (Approx £16)
You will need to provide:
Steel toecap boots – Approx £30
(Overalls will be provided by Thanet College)
