Automotive Vehicle Maintenance VRQ Level 1
Course Overview
This course allows you to acquire basic motor vehicle competencies in a college-based environment, which simulates working practice.
Course Structure
You will have to complete ten units, all of which are assessed by observation in the college workshop. Underpinning knowledge is tested by completing assignments in class and verbal questioning.

Qualification Aims
- City & Guilds Entry Level 3 in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance
- Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT (at an appropriate level)
Progression from this course is onto a VRQ Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair course. This course can lead to work in the local motor vehicle repair industry especially if used to progress to the MV repair & Maintenance NVQ Programme.
Assessments/Examinations
There is no end of course examination.
Continual assessments are carried out in both the theory and practical aspects of the course.
Cost / Equipment
Tuition is FREE for those aged 16-18yrs
Free tuition is available to those over 19 in receipt of means tested benefits or to their unwaged dependants (registration fees still apply)
Equipment Costs:
Training Programme on-line access fee (Approx £16)
You will also need to provide:
Steel toecap boots (Approx £30)
(Overalls will be supplied by Thanet College)
