Course Overview
Suitable for students interested in seeking employment in book-keeping or accounting, keeping the accounts of a small business, or progressing to further studies in the AAT accounting qualification. The course will include in-class exercises and homework. Candidates will need to spend approximately 6 hours of personal learning time per week
The programme is delivered over 34 weeks EITHER
Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 6.00 - 9.00 OR
Tuesday 9.00 - 3.00
The course will also require attendance on 9 (3 hour) workshops which will be held on additional days/ evenings.

Course Structure
The programme will cover the following:
- Accounts preparation 1 & 2
- Cash management
- Costs & Revenues
- Indirect Tax
- Professional ethics in accounting and finance
- Spreadsheet software
Qualification Aims
Students successfully completing this Diploma in Accounting L3 stage can progress to the Diploma in Accounting L4 Qualification.

The AAT is a professional body. Students will need to arrange and pay registration and examination fees direct to the AAT.

Currently fees are:
AAT Student Admission fee: (one off) £34
UK student annual memebership fee: £74
Students will need to purchase 6 recommended textbooks, currently retailing at approximately £17 each.
Free tution is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or to their unwaged dependents. If you are not on benefits but find it difficult to pay any course related costs because of financial hardship, contact Student welfare on 01843 605048 to make an appointment with a welfare advisor.
Entry Requirements
Candidates will be required to possess one of the following:
AAT Foundation NVQ2, OR
BTEC National Certificate or Diploma, OR
Advanced VCE, OR
A levels, OR
Relevant Work Experience in Accounting
Knowledge of manual double entry book-keeping is essential and all applicants will be invited to attend a short informal interview prior to the course commencing and will be expected to attend a special enrolment day.
