Course Overview
The advanced diploma is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ) focusing on the candidates performance using practical skills, knowledge & understanding of engineering principles.
Students will need to be disciplined in their approach to study as it will involve some work outside of college hours to ensure success

Course Structure
The course covers the following topics:
- Engineering environmental health & safety
- Organisational efficiency & improvement
- Computer aided design techniques
- PC maintenance
- Digital electronics
- Advanced maintenance principles
- Maintenance of pneumatic systems
- Data communications & networking
Qualification Aims
Successful candidates will achieve the Level 3 VRQ Diploma in Engineering & Technology (Electrical Route)
This diploma has gained accreditation as a Technical certificate, used in the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship framework.
The diploma can also form the basis for a university application

Assessments/Examinations
Each candidate will take an externally marked examination based on the two mandatory units, & will also be tested on practical & knowledge levels gained in the 6 specialised subjects (by internally marked assignments)
Cost / Equipment
Tuition fees £495
Tuition is FREE for students aged 16-18 years
Free tuition is available to those aged 19 or over in receipt of certain benefits or to their unwaged dependants
