Course Overview

The course comprises core and option units for the (Accounting Practice, Industry and Commerce) qualification.
4 Units undertaken in the first year, 2 units in the next 4 months
NB: These qualifications reflect the new AAT Accounting Standards. 

Course Structure

The programme will cover new standards as follows:

In the first Year
  • Financial Statements
  • Budgeting
  • Financial performance
  • Business Tax

Second Year
  • Internal Control and Accounting Systems
  • Credit management and Control

The course is taught over a period of 16 months.

Qualification Aims

Students successfully completing this AAT Diploma in Accounting L4 can, with relevant work experience, qualify fully as MAAT. Qualified AAT Students can progress on a fast-track route into studies for Chartered Accountant status.

The course is currently examined by 6 Computer-based Assessments

Plus: 6 Computerised Assessments @ £35 each (£210)

The AAT is a professional body.

Students will need to arrange and pay registration and examination fees direct to the AAT. Currently fees are:

AAT Student Admission fee: (one off) £34
UK Student annual membership fee £74

Students will need to purchase either 4 or 6 recommended textbooks, currently retailing at approximately £17 each

Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or to their un-waged dependants. If you are not on benefits but find it difficult to pay any course related costs because of financial hardship, contact Student Welfare on 01843 605048 to make an appointment with a welfare advisor.

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have successfully completed the Intermediate level or have a Degree in Accountancy. Applicants are invited to attend a short, informal interview prior to the course commencing and will be expected to attend a special enrolment day.
