What does this course involve?

This Programme will be offered at times throughout the academic year which runs from September to July. To register your interest please contact Support Services:

This course is designed for learners who are already working and would like to gain a nationally recognised qualification at Level 2. Learners undertake work based units of competence that will demonstrate their practice and knowledge whilst working with their trainer/assessor.

Learners will work towards:

Combined qualification: L2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce

Literacy/Numeracy/ICT: Fulfilled by completion of Maths, English and ICT at an appropriate level.

ERR: Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

PLTS: Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

All qualification elements must be achieved to complete the apprenticeship framework.

There are a number of mandatory units in the workplace to be completed. Apprentices will be required to study a number of optional units linked to specific industry requirements.

The learner is expected to take ownership of their award. Full support will be given recognising differentiation in its entirety.

Requirements

What qualifications do I need?

Apprentices should be employed within an appropriate Care environment.

Apprentices will be invited to undertake initial assessment to demonstrate the minimum levels of literacy, numeracy and ICT required. Apprentices will be allocated a personal tutor for guidance throughout the duration of the course.

Assessment

The process of assessment requires the demonstration of skills together with appropriate knowledge and understanding to a specified standard. Assessment of competency is based on a combination of observation, questioning and collection of evidence from the workplace.

Fees & Costs

This course is fully funded if the apprentice is aged under 19. If the apprentice is 19+ then a £500 employer contribution is required.
