Apprenticeship Academy
The brand new Apprenticeship Academy was launched on 16 January. The Academy offers College employed Apprentices an all round experience of earning and learning with a range of additional benefits.
The Academy offers its members a package of extras including lunch vouchers worth £2.75 a day, a £20 voucher for the College’s Trilogy Salons, an allowance of up to £100 for any work clothes needed for the job, and a free net book computer and pen drive, which can be kept when the apprenticeship is completed.
Karen Evans, Commercial Executive Director, made the first presentation to the eight current apprentices and informed them of the further support they are entitled to - careers advice and support throughout their apprenticeship, and the opportunity to attend business events outside of College.
Charlie Frewin, who works as a Business Administration Apprentice in the Technology department, said. “I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship at the College, and it’s great to receive the netbook. It will help me get on with both work and studying, in and out of the College.”
The new Academy gives apprentices the opportunity to gain hands-on-experience and learn job-specific skills, whilst they study to gain vital qualifications.
Head of Training Solutions, Kirsty Bryant, said the Academy will hold many valuable benefits for those taking part: “The new Apprenticeship Academy recognises the unique value of earning while learning, and the support that is needed from the employer to ensure that an apprenticeship is a development programme with benefits. The Thanet College apprentices will gain from meeting as a group and will work on projects together for the benefit of themselves, the College and the community via fundraising,” she said.
