Monthly Roundup

We’re going to have a different approach at giving you a roundup this month, but first please welcome two new student editors to the blog, Paul and SamH. They have both spent time working on a couple of articles that have appeared in the last week so thanks to them for their time and effort!

For the full roundup please read more.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review

Battlefield - Bad Company 2 Logo

EA had all of us PC gamers in galore when they stated that Bad Company 2 (BC2) would support Dedicated servers (a clear nab at Infinity Ward for their shoddy matchmaking system on Modern Warfare 2), well, does this game deserve the hype that it’s been getting?

Yes it does!

Pimp my box

Grid - Race Driver

Grid - Race Driver for the Xbox 360

Here is a photo of my third attempt at ‘pimping’ my X-Box 360 and you could do the same to yours.

Warning! This is not for anyone without a very steady hand and I can assure you it was not all that easy, but as you can see the end product is a real cool piece of kit.

The first attempt started very well, I read the instruction sheet and peeled of the first decal but it was not long before it was completely stuck to my fingers and ended up in as a ball in the bin! This was not a good start.

Read on about my further attempts.

Audio Bullys play at the Westcoast Bar

Audio Bullys - Higher than the Eiffel album cover

If you like electronic dance music you may have heard of the Audio Bullys. Their most instantly recognisable track, “Shot You Down”, made use of the iconic sample of Nancy Sinatra singing “Bang Bang My Baby Shot Me Down” and is probably one you would recognise from a few years ago.

The Audio Bullys new album, Higher Than The Eiffel, is due to be released on 29th March and they are due to play at the Westcoast Bar, in Margate, on April 23rd. If this interests you, read more for full details.

Jamie T – Emily’s Heart Music Video

For fans of Indie music, the new music video to accompany Jamie T’s single release, Emily’s Heart, is now viewable on YouTube and posted here for you to have a look at.

The reason this video has made its way onto this blog is due to the music video being filmed in Broadstairs!

The single is already available on the Kings and Queens album, however a re-recording is being released on the 15th March that also includes a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Atlantic City as a ‘B-side’ track.

This may not be to everyone’s musical taste and has been said by some to sound pretty ‘Melancholy’, however it is still interesting to see how Thanet is slowing regaining its place on the map for having a good diversity in music (live or otherwise!).

Video of the Week

While browsing the Studity website I came across the following video and felt it might be useful to some new blog visitors to show what a blog is and what it can be used for.

If you want to see more videos like these, or other things created by media students (EG music recordings, artwork, photographs etc…) please visit the Studity website.

To find out when they are going to be released, and on which consoles, read on.
