For those of you not from the immediate area it may be useful to give you some background information. Thanet College is a successful, medium-sized further education college, based in East Kent in an area which is known as the Isle of Thanet. We aim to be the college of choice and are at the heart of the community, working with local people, employers, schools and community organisations.  We have an excellent local reputation, sound inspection grades, good financial health and a strong focus on quality improvement.

The College works within a dynamic community which has benefited greatly from recent regeneration and which still has many opportunities for future development.  The artist JMW Turner loved the area and the new landmark gallery in Margate, the Turner Contemporary, has fast become a blueprint for arts-led regeneration.  Other recent investments include the Kent International Airport at Manston, high speed rail links to London as well as the Westwood Cross Retail Park, several other new business parks and hi tech sustainability projects such as Thanet Earth and Thanet Offshore Wind farm, one of the largest operational wind farm in the world.

As a place to live Thanet has a great deal to offer including lots of heritage, culture, a warm dry climate and a beautiful coastline which takes in 10 beautiful sandy beaches and bays.  There is also a good range of residential property which is still relatively low cost for the south east region.
