After graduating from Bournemouth University in 1996 with a degree in Human and Computer Sciences, Paul embarked on a career as an Executive Search consultant with Korn Ferry, one of the world’s largest talent management firms.
He progressed rapidly to the role of Senior Associate, with responsibility for board level assignments, building strong relationships with senior management clients in the global insurance and financial services sectors.
Paul was recruited by the Learning and Skills Council (forerunner to the Skills Funding Agency) in 2001 to lead a number of project teams responsible for implementing organisational change and performance management systems. Paul progressed through a number of roles before becoming a Partnership Director where he developed relationships with FE Colleges and strategic partners across Kent, ensuring the delivery of key government policies and programmes including Apprenticeships, capital investment programmes and vocational education reform.
Before leaving the SFA, Paul worked as Head of Area Relationships with responsibility for £150m of public and private sector education and training contracts, as well as for strategic stakeholder partnerships.
Paul took up his current role as East Kent College’s Strategic Director of Corporate Services in 2014, bringing with him vital insight into government policy making and funding as well as providing senior leadership to the College’s Partnership Strategy. His responsibilities include developing and managing strategic relationships, and oversees key corporate services including management information, risk management, internal audit and policy development.
Paul feels that his greatest achievement since joining East Kent College has been to increase significantly the number of Apprenticeships and strategic partnerships with organisation including the Port of Dover, Shepway District Council and Dover District Council. He is delighted to be working directly with the College’s students, witnessing first-hand the positive result of his efforts.
